3rd Khelo India Youth Games: M Martina earns Manipur another weightlifting gold on last day, S Barun clinches gold in boxing

IMPHAL, Jan 22 : Maibam Martina took Manipur's gold medal count in weightlifting discipline at 3rd Khelo India hosted in Guwahati to 3 as she finished on top in the Youth (U-17) women's 81 kg class by recording 158 kg lift.
Maibam Martina managed 71 kg lift in snatch before lifting 87 kg in clean and jerk today to win the gold medal.
Priti Pramod Deshmukh of Maharashtra who lifted 158 kg total and Mohana Priya of Tamil Nadu who managed a total lift of 133 kg finished second and third in this weight category to settle with the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Earlier, Shandrella Huyam (U-17 girls 59 kg category) and  Chingkham Nirmala U-21 girls' 59 kg) had won gold medals in the same discipline while A Anju Devi (junior women's 76 kg), Warepam Sapana (youth women's 71 kg category) and Potsangbam Umeshori (junior women 64 kg) have won silver medals. Yumnam Shilheinganbi (junior women 64 kg) and Kh Priyaluxmi (junior women's 55 kg) also won bronze medals in their respective weight category.  Elsewhere in the boxing event held at SAI Centre, Paltan Bazar S Barun defeated Selay Soy of Jharkhand in the U-21 Boys final to win the gold medal as S Victor, N Babyrosina and Sanamacha Chanu settled for silver medals in their respective weight categories.
Soubam Victor had to finish with the silver medal as he went down to Akash Kumar of Haryana in the U-21 boys' 56 kg final bout today. Sanamacha Chanu on the other hand was beaten by UP's Astha in the U-21 girls 75  kg final bout after N Babyrojisana bagged a silver in the 51 kg category.
Manipur finished 14th in this games with a total haul of 14 gold, 20 silver and 20 bronze medals.
