IED recovered

IMPHAL, Jan 27 : An active cadre of PREPAK was arrested along with an IED ahead of the Republic Day celebration thereby helping the day pass off without any major incident.
Along with the arrest of the PREPAK cadre an IED planted at the bank of Imphal River at Singjamei Waikhom Leikai was also confiscated yesterday at about 2.30 am.
The arrested PREPAK cadre is identified as Wangjam Premchand alias Tabi of Singjamei Waikhom Leikai and he was taken into custody at about 8.30 pm on January 23 by a team of Imphal East commandos. A hand grenade was also seized from his homestead.
From the disclosure of Wangjam Premchand one IED was recovered from Imphal River bank at Singjamei Waikhom Leikai yesterday at around 2.30 am.
The recovered IED bomb was safely disposed by a team of police bomb disposal squad at Lamdeng area yesterday morning at around 5.10 am.
