HC directs

IMPHAL, Oct 17: Hearing a suo moto PIL (Public Interest Litigation) on monitoring of criminal cases against MLAs and MPs,  the High Court of Manipur has directed Inspector General of Police (Law and Order-I), K Jayanta to ensure Police Department complies with the directions issued by the Government of Manipur and fixed November 26 for next hearing.
The directives from the State Government include that the Additional SPs (Law and Order) will also function as Additional SP (Prosecution).
The direction was given by a division bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and Justice Ahanthem Bimol through video conference on October 15.
Four cases against MLAs relate to Agriculture Minister O Lukhoi, Sekmai MLA Heikham Dingo, Social Welfare Minister O Henry and Saikul MLA Yamthong Haokip.
