IMPHAL, Oct 25: The Royal Theatrical Club (RTC), Imphal has organised a one-day theatre seminar at Ibudhou Chingjeng Naral Panganba Community Hall at Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai, today.    
Speaking as a chief guest of the function, ex- Art and Culture Minister, L Jayantakumar has contended that the State budget allocated for art and culture is extremely low.
He also stated that the rich art and culture of Manipur has all the ingredients to astonish the global audience.
Promoting the art and culture of the State is imperative to conserve the diverse Manipur's cultural identity, the ex-Minister said and added that he was unable to work on promoting the various art forms of Manipur to his wish as the budget allocated for the same is poor.
"Despite the paucity of fund, a scheme christened as Chief Minister Artist Sing gi Tengbang (CMAT) to help artists and artistes of the State who brought home laurels during my tenure as Art and Culture Minister," said Jayantakumar, who is an incumbent MLA of Keishamthong Assembly constituency.
He also stated that senior artists/artistes can breathe a sigh of relief if CMAT is implemented fully.
The president of the seminar, Professor Mayengbam Akshayakumar said that Royal Theatrical Club had been promoting the rich art forms of Manipur at its capacity since the past.
He also suggested that documentation and organising seminar on the genesis of Manipur martial art would help promote the unique art and culture of Manipur, furthermore
Former president of RTC, Elangbam E Dolendro Singh also attended the programme as a guest of honour.
During the event, members of Royal Theatrical Club paid floral tributes to the founder member, writer, director and actor of the club,  Ghanashyam Kshetri.
Resource persons of the seminar deliberated on “Acting tradition of Manipuri Theatre – An overview”, “Radio play – As popular entertainment and social awareness media” and “Shumang Leela – origin, growth & development”.
