Held with opium

IMPHAL, Oct 25 : Bishnupur district commando arrested a 37-year-old man identified as Sokholen Touthang along with 6 kilograms of opium (Kaani) at Naranseina near Eriema School today morning.
Following reliable information, a team of Bishnupur command led by Subedar Shaktishen, OC Bishnupur under the supervision of Okram Wangkhomba, Additional SP Operation carried out frisking and checking at Naransena along Tiddim road. During frisking, the team stopped a Maruti Celerio car coming towards Imphal and carried out the search which yielded the 6 kilograms of opium wrapped in a plastic bag.
On spot verification, the driver was identified as Sokholen Touthang, s/o Seilet Touthang of Leisan village, Leisan Tampak Churachandpur district.
The arrested person along with the seized opium have been handed over to Moirang Police Station for further investigation and necessary legal action under ND&PS Act, said Bishnupur  police.
