THOUBAL, Oct 29: Chief Minister N Biren has stated that his Government might not have survived had it not been for the Congress MLAs who resigned from the State Assembly in the nick of time.
He was speaking at an election meeting of Paonam Brojen held today at Tentha Heibung.
Notably, Brojen is contesting the by-election in Wangjing-Tentha AC as a BJP candidate.
There have been repeated attempts to topple the Government since the day it was installed and those MLAs who had resigned were suffering for the Government for almost three years, Biren said.
If those representatives who had the spirit to sacrifice the post of MLA in order to save the Government are re-election, the particular group of people who have been conspiring persistently to pull down the Government would not able to pose any threat to the Government, Biren said.
To bring any positive change in the political history of Manipur had been a herculean task and this fact is known to all the people. People are also witness to the many changes brought about by the BJP-led Government during the last three years and a half, Biren claimed.
He then appealed to all the people to make sure that the ‘Government notorious for killing citizens’ does not ever come back.
The people’s Government is one like the incumbent Government which provides free education, ensure no one goes to bed on empty stomach or sleeps under leaky roof, Biren claimed. He then called upon all the people to give up bribery for securing Government jobs and eradicate corruption.
Appealing to the people of Wangjing-Tentha AC to re-elect P Brojen, the Chief Minister said that the Government would remain grateful forever.
Biren addressed similar political rallies geld at Phundrei and Langathel where Ministers Th Biswajit, O Henry, S Rajen, MLAs L Rameshwar, L Susindro, MP RK Ranjan and many leaders of BJP Manipur Pradesh were also present.
