CCPUR, Feb 11: Trophy starved but a consistent local team United Khawzim Brothers today lifted the much deserved Raja Goukhothang Guite Football Memoriam 2020, defeating Sagolband United 5-3 on penalties  at Lamka Public Ground.
UKB netted all five penalties, while the Sagolband side missed two penalties after the match ended tied 0-0 during regulation time.
It was the UKB who dominated the game throughout. A crowd of fans that packed the venue on all corners supplemented their dominance but Sagolband's custodian Kh Rocky Singh saves after saves helped his team stood strong till the end of normal time. He wasn't as fortunate though on the penalties as he conceded all five goals.
Today's trophy for the UKB came years after they had a clean sweep of domestic trophies but fell short in the past couple of seasons. It came as a relief to the trophy starved team and their fans to lift the RGGFM 2020 even if it was a shootout victory.
Thanlon MLA Vungzagin Valte handed over the trophy and graced the closing event.
Lenjapao Kipgen of United Khawzim Brothers was adjudged man of the final match while Luntinmang Haokip of UKB was presented player-of-the-tournament award.
With 6 goals to his credit, Jerry Pulamte of FC Zotal was the top scorer in the tournament and Kh Rocky Singh of Sagolband United was conferred the best goal keeper award.
Best disciplined team, KYVO - Kwasiphai; losing semi-finalists and losing quarter-finalists are also awarded handsomely by the organisers.
