Biswajit stresses on roles of youth in Nation building

Pointing out that the popu-lation of youth in India is very high as they make up about 65 percent of the country’s population, Works Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh has opined that no development is possible in a society nor Nation building is possible, without the ideas and ambitions of the youths.
He made the statement as the chief guest at a congregation of young people at the 67th Youth Day celebration which was held at Sahlang Lentol Keithel-manbi today afternoon.  The congregation, presided by Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen, also witnessed a world record attempt for the largest gathering of Thadou dance group, Spheroid.
As a part of the celebration, Minister Biswajit also inaugurated a suspension bridge over Gangol river constructed under the Local Area Development Fund of the local MLA which will connect Ward No 5 of Keithelmanbi to Tenjang Veng.
Speaking on the sideline of the event, Biswajit said that youths  play an important role in Nation building and pointed out that this is why so many of the leaders, including late APJ Abdul Kalam, put great emphasis on the youths of the country.
The youths are considered to be pillars of the Nation, he stated, adding that all should fully understand the importance of youths in bringing changes to a society.
The Minister also explained that even though all people have their aims, objectives and ambition, according to Swami Vivekananda’s teaching, the youths should follow the three principles of purity, patience and perseverance to succeed in any mission.
"Above all these, we should also understand that love, trust and respect are also very necessary", he said.
The Minister further urged the young people not to waste time, explaining that the present is the best time to work.
Biswajit explained the importance of education and said that education is the backbone of the society.
No resources are of use without human resource or education. The Prime Minister believes that education is the only way to fight poverty, he said.
The Minister also spoke on School Fagathansi initiative of the Government.
On the other hand, Minister Nemcha Kipgen spoke on the importance of the youth in developing a society.
She said that there is nothing that the youths can’t achieve and stressed on the need for the youths to remain healthy.
She also advised the youths to seek knowledge and to stay away from drugs and other intoxicants. 
The celebration also featured folk dances and other cultural items.
Hill Areas Committee Chairman T Thangjalam Haokip, MANIDCO and MANITRON Chairman Dr Radheshyam Yumnam, Wangjing Tentha MLA Brojen Singh, Naoria Pakhanglakpa MLA S Subhaschandra Singh and Kshetrigao MLA N Indrajit Singh were also present as guests of honour.
