Baruni, Cheiraoching closed

IMPHAL, Mar 20: Both Baruni Hill and Cheiraoching have been closed to public climbing until further orders, according to an order issued today by Special Secretary (Home) H Gyan Prakash.   People climb the Baruni Hill and Cheiraoching as a tradition  and this year the days fall on March 22 and March 25 respectively but the hills have been closed to public climbing  in view of the highly contagious COVID-19 pandemic, mentioned the order.
The order further said, ‘The very real threat of contracting and spreading of the highly contagious COVID-19 is imminent as the possibility of existence of person(s), who are asymptomatic till now, but may have come in contact with a person who has been infected or objects where the virus was resting cannot be ruled out.’
PM, CM talk COVID-19 : Through a video conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reviewed the preventive and containment measures taken up against COVID-19 pandemic in different States of the country.
The video conference held at 4 pm was participated by Chief Minister N Biren, Health Minister L Jayantakumar, Agriculture Minister V Hangkhanlian, Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu and Principal Secretary (Health) V Vumlunmang. The team led by the Chief Minister apprised the Prime Minister about the different measures taken up in Manipur against anticipated spread of COVID-19. Notably, Narendra Modi held a similar video conference earlier with SAARC countries.
