Drives launched

IMPHAL, Mar 23: Following the restriction on movement of passenger vehicles in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Manipur police today, carried out an intense drive, preventing passenger carrying auto-rickshaws and vans from operating along the roads.
Starting from the early morning, Imphal West district police personnel deployed near Moirangkhom Hicham Yaicham Pat stopped and turned back auto-rickshaws arriving with passengers.
The drivers who were carrying people destined for Khwairamband and other nearby places, were also duly instructed by the police personnel regarding the restriction. The police deboarded the passengers and told them to go by foot while the drivers were told to turn back.
However, the police relaxed the restriction for vehicles which had patients on board. Auto-drivers who were running their own personal errands were also let off by the police personnel.
On the other hand, police deployed near the pharmacies located at Khwairamband Keithel ensured that people who came to buy medicines wore masks.
The police also instructed the people to refrain from crowding the shops and not to linger at the spot anymore than required.
