MSF appeals

IMPHAL, Mar 26: Taking advantage of the current situation of lockdown enforced by the Govt to battle coronavirus, many traders and shopkeepers have created fake scarcity and hike prices of essential commodities like rice, pulses, oil etc, leaving many families to face starvation, said a press statement issued by Manipur Students' Federation (MSF).
It also said that daily wagers and AAY/BPL families currently face food scarcity as they have not received any ration or commodities provided under NSFA as promised by the State Government.
MSF has, therefore, appealed to the State Govt to provide such essential commodities and medical supplies to the general public.
It also asked the Government to punish traders/shopkeepers selling goods at higher rates.
Further stating that there have been many cases of North East and Manipuri students facing harassment in other States, it urged the State Government to look into the matter at the earliest.“The Federation has also extended its help to the Govt saying if needed, MSF members are willing to volunteer to fight in the frontline.
