TENGNOUPAL, Mar 26 : In an attempt to protect the people living in the areas near Moreh as well as to prevent people from Myanmar entering Manipur illegally in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, a team of commando led by Th Krishnatombi ASP (Ops) Tengnoupal and 43 Assam Rifles conducted a drive at Govajang village today as well to check for any illegal migrants.
During the drive, the security team spotted a Myanmar National crossing the border illegally and as such, he was immediately made to return. Moreover, the team also urged the villagers to inform the authorities concerned immediately if anyone develops any symptoms or illness associated with the virus.
On the other hand, the villagers also took it up upon themselves to barricade the area and block the roads connecting with Myanmar and prevented anyone from entering Manipur.
One of the locals said that the people are now suffering as Moreh has been locked down.
He also appealed to the Government to look after the plight of the people as in the past, they used to get essential supplies from Myanmar side, but it is no longer possible to do as the borders have been locked down as well.
