After Chief Minister N Biren Singh launched 'Hand Sani-tiser' made by JS Venture and Thokchom Iboyaima and Sons jointly, about 150 bottles (200 ml capacity) of the same hand sanitiser have been distributed to journalists and newspaper hawkers through the Editors' Guild Manipur and the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union.
The hand sanitisers, prepared following the recom- mendation of the World Health Organisation (WHO) were delivered to the EGM and AMWJU by Information Minister Th Biswajit.
50 hand sanitisers were provided to hawkers at the premises of The Sangai Express while 50 more were provided to journalists by Th Biswajit.
A total of 150 bottles of the same hand sanitisers were also provided to hawkers by The Sangai Express.
The hawkers were also provided 200 washable masks under the aegis of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
The Sangai Express, Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Information Minister Th Biswajit also assured the hawkers and journalists that all necessary items (masks, hand sanitiser) would be provided in the coming days too for their safety amidst the coronavirus outbreak.
Proprietor of JS Venture, Th Jotin said that the hand sanitisers were made with the help of Chief Minister N Biren Singh and the raw materials for preparing the hand-rub solution were procured from Assam.
The hand sanitiser will be made available to public at Rs 100, he said.
Meanwhile, the Department of Chemistry, Oriental College, Takyel has prepared alcohol based sand sanitiser under the sponsorship of Department of University & Higher Education, Government of Manipur and distributed to local clubs and Members of Zilla Parishad.
All teachers and non-teaching staff of Oriental College also donated one day's salary amounting to Rs 2,50,105 towards Chief Minister's COVID-19 Relief Fund.
The amount has been submitted to Joint Director, University and Higher Education, said a statement of college Principal Dr S Ranjit Singh.
