Many get relief materials

IMPHAL, Apr 30: As coronavirus outbreak inflicted lockdown continues, many across the State distributed relief materials.
State Bank of India, Kangpokpi and Gamnom Saparmeina Branch reached out to Health Centres of Kangpokpi district with foot-operated handwashing station.
The SBI Kangpokpi and Gamnom Saparmeina Branch had donated a foot-operated handwashing station each to District Hospital Kangpokpi, CHC Saikul, PHC Kalapahar, PHC Saitu Gamphazol and PHC Motbung.
CMO, Kangpokpi, Dr T Nilakanta Singh said that the SBI Kangpokpi Branch said that hand washing being one of the essential steps to prevent from COVID-19 and other infectious diseases, such an appropriate step at the right time on the part of SBI is a blessing for the public and the health department in particular.
Moreh:  Yaipha Thourang Thousillup (YTT)  Moreh Khunou Leikai has distributed one soap each to every household of the locality to encourage frequent handwashing.
YTT also advised all to keep water and a bar of soap in every gate of houses, hotels and shops as a means to contain the virus from spreading in the locality.
Vice president of BJP Manipur State Benjamin Mate has distributed food items such as potatoes, onions, packaged salts etc, to locals of Saivom village, Tengnoupal village, Phalbung village, Chehlep village, Sita village, Leibi village, Saibol village, Narum village, Simang village, Bongmol  village and Khoibu area on Wednesday.
BJP Tengnoupal Mandal also provided face masks to the locals of the aforementioned villagers.
Encouraging the general public to wear a mask while going out to market, a team of Senapati police by Tezii, LL, OC, Senapati Police Station distributed nearly 100 masks.
The Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti (BGVS) also distributed relief materials to 33 select needy persons at Senapati. Sanii Stephen, secretary general, BGVS Manipur on behalf of the Manipur BGVS team expressed gratitude to Biplab Ghosh, BGVS National  Executive Committee  Member and North East In charge, for raising funds since  March 13 last.
In fact, it is through his hard work that enables the body to extend their little help to 33 families who could be the need most in Senapati district.  The distribution consisted of 5 kg of rice, 1 kg of dal (pulses) and 1 kg of potato. Mention may be made that BGVS is a mass movement of community-based volunteers which is a national Organization with associating units in 23 states, 350 districts and more than 25,000 panchayats with 3,00,000 volunteers.
International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISCKON) also provided edible items to police personnel and health staff stationed in Thoubal, today.
AR helps Veer Naris
Assam Rifles at Churachandpur under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) reached out to the Veer Naris, widows and war-wounded soldiers of the area on Wednesday and assisted them in meeting their daily critical requirements to tide over the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
The Assam Rifles have been at the forefront in the fight against COVID-19 and have answered the calls for assistance from all sections of the society to include the locals, children, the war wounded, veterans and Veer Naris in times of the long-standing Nationwide lockdown, said a statement of IGAR (S).
Adhering to the theme of ‘Year of Next of Kin’ to remain connected with veterans, Veer Naris and war-wounded soldiers, supplies and necessities were provided by the Assam Rifles Sector, Churachandpur under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) to Veer Naris and war-wounded soldiers at a solemn event held at Khuga Dam.
The Churachandpur Sector also provided relief materials to the stranded children of the Trinity College and Seminary Churachandpur at Tuibong on April 29.
The children belonging to various parts of Nepal, Bhutan, Assam and Mizoram are pursuing their education at Churachandpur and were stranded due to the lockdown.
Chairman of Bhubon Technical and Skill Development Pvt Ltd Naorem Nabachandra alongwith director Naorem (O) Binarani Devina distributed essential items of edible oil, potato, onion, salt and masks to about 120 households of Irengband, Hawairou and Mairenbam of Kakching district today.
Proprietor of Bhubon and Leiren Brick Field, Kakching Naorem Nopur Singh was also part of the distribution.
Kuki Baptist Convention of Molnoi area handed varieties of fresh vegetables collected from their village to Social Development Organisation (SDO) Pallel today. Pallel Gram Panchayat Up Pradhan Sanabam Joykumar, members of GP ward no 7, 8, 9 10, SDO along with Youth Volunteers Association Pallel (YVA) returned the charitable act by providing essential items of potato, sugar and salt.
Salam Dhanabir of Keirak Tomal Makhong distributed items of pulses, potato, edible oil, onion and cabbages to about 250 muslim households of Keirak today.
