UTCOM appeals

IMPHAL, Apr 30: The United Tribal Civil Organisation Manipur (UTCOM) has submitted a representation to the Chief Secretary and Addl Chief Secretary of Tribal Affairs & Hills, Government of Manipur for early release of scheme fund, materials and work construction programmes to the beneficiaries of various schemes under Tribal Affairs & Hills Department, Manipur 2018-19.
A press release issued by UTCOM said that in the year 2018-2019, the State Government launched various schemes and work construction programmes under the Tribal  Affairs   &  Hills Department, Manipur for the welfare of the tribal people such as setting up of nurseries of fruit, vegetables and flowers, promotion of backyard poultry, promote the development of small scale industries, distribution of sewing machines,  housing programme (GC sheets), water storage tank, assistance to women societies/organizations/SHGs and construction of Inter Village Road (IVR) etc.
Stating that the authorities concerned have also declared the beneficiaries under various schemes in 2019, but no financial assistance/material aids are released or given to the beneficiaries till date, UTCOM requested all concerned for immediate early release of the pending financial assistance /material aids at the earliest.
One drowns
Jiribam, Apr 30: A labour named Nivash (22), son of Babul Bati of Kadamtila, Jirighat, Cachar, Assam was drowned at Jiri River at around 3 pm on today.
It is said that the body remains untraced till the time of filing this report.
