State’s first positve case tests negative

IMPHAL, Apr 4: The 23-year old woman from Thang- meiband Lourungpurel Leikai who happens to be the State’s first positive case of COVID-19 was tested negative today.
The young woman has been studying in the United Kingdom and she was tested positive for COVID-19 on her return to Imphal via Kolkata.
Sources informed that testing of samples belonging to co-passengers of the woman who shared the same flight from Kolkata to Imphal has begun today at RIMS and JNIMS.
The woman has been undergoing treatment at JNIMS since March 24 and her sample was tested again today. To the much relief of all the people, the test result said that it was negative.
However, there will be another test and if the result comes out to be negative again, due procedure would be initiated to discharge the woman from JNIMS, said the sources.
Notably, 12 family members of the woman who are currently housed in a quarantine centre have been already tested negative for COVID-19.
All the 37 co-passengers of the young woman have completed their quarantine period, and their samples are being tested at RIMS and JNIMS, according to a statement issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room. 
Meanwhile, test results of all the 11 family members of the State’s second COVID-19 patient from Lilong Turel Ahanbi area have come out as negative.
Moreover, all the five people who were taken to RIMS last night with suspected symptoms of COVID-19 were tested today and all of them were found negative.
