IMPHAL, Apr 6: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) observed its 40th foundation day at the party's old office at Nityai Chuthek.
Party flag was hoisted and floral tributes were paid to Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, said a statement issued by M Asnikumar Singh, BJP Manipur Pradesh vice-president.
With lockdown effective in the State due to coronavirus outbreak, the party had decided to refrain from organising any form of extravagant ceremony/mass gathering or function for the occasion. Each and every karyakarta of the BJP hoisted the party flag at their respective houses, said the statement.
In his statement, M Asnikumar said, "In these 40 years, our party has had an eventful journey full of highs and lows but always stuck true to its fundamentals of creating a united prosperous and strong India, enlightened in outlook. Today, we are the largest party in the world in terms of primary membership. This itself is a testament to the faith people have in the originality of this great party's beliefs and ideology."
"As karyakartas of this great party, we should rejoice this day but at the same time we took a pledge to not forget our duty to help the people in this battle against COVID-19 pandemic," he said.
