CS appeals for public cooperation

Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu today said 1081 passengers who arrived in the State by train from Chennai, on Wednesday have been shifted to the respective district level quarantine centres after routine medical check up. He also expressed his gratitude to all the departments’ officials and staff for cooperating in successfully bringing back the passengers.
Speaking to media persons at the Conference Hall, Secretariat today, the Chief Secretary clarified that there is no reason to worry with regard to some passengers travelling in coach no S3 and S18 which appeared in social media. The passengers are undergoing quarantine in Imphal and they will be tested thoroughly.
The Chief Secretary also informed that around 300 to 450 people are coming into the State by road through Mao and Jiribam routes. They will also be taken into quarantine centres. Government is making additional facility at Mao, where oil tanker and passenger vehicles will be screened separately to reduce the rush.
He also said that a train from Bengaluru, Karnataka will depart for Jiribam today carrying more than 1400 people, and it is expected to reach Jiribam by afternoon of May 17.
Dr J Suresh Babu said that he had discussed with the Health Department on how to go about 100% testing.
He also said that once an individual is found negative during testing there is no need to put the individual in quarantine centre. In case, an individual is found negative, he/she should be able to go home and stay at home quarantine.
The Chief Secretary, making an earnest appeal to the people of the State, said that the Government is taking up all possible and necessary measures.
He urged for co-operation from all the sections of the society stating that coming days will be more challenging for the Government as more people are expected to return to the State.
