TDC clears Imphal-Jiri hi

IMPHAL, May 27: Following clearance of earth, rock and other debris left behind by the landslide that occurred late night at Seijang Village along Imphal-Jiribam road on Tuesday, the highway stretch is now ready for vehicular movements.
Three JCBs were deployed to clear the debris from the highway stretch.
Speaking to media persons while monitoring the restoration work, Transport and Drivers' Council president H Ranjit stated that he visited the site on hearing that several passenger buses and goods vehicles were stranded along the National Highway due to the landslide.
Saying that they came to provide all possible help in clearing the debris, he added that several stranded vehicles have started heading for Imphal. The highway stretch is now ready for vehicular movement.
General secretary of All Manipur Road Transport Drivers' & Motor Workers' Union, Maimom Anil who also took part in the visit, urged the Chief Minister to identify landslide-prone areas along the highway stretch and do the needful at the earliest.
