MOREH, Jun 15 : Moreh police has apprehended Head Constable Asem Kanan Singh allegedly involved in smuggling of arms on June 13, a day after a combined team of Moreh Commando and Moreh Police appre-hended one person along with arms and ammunition.
The combined team had seized six numbers of US made 4th Generation Glock 21 pistol and one pistol of Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard 380 from the possession of Khaijamang Touthang (30), son of Ngamjapao Touthang of Yangoubung village in Tengnoupal district.
A case was registered at Moreh Police in connection with the seizure.
Acting further on the case, Moreh Police arrested Asem Kanan (42), son of Asem Indramani Singh of Yairipok Laimanai, from a location in Tengnoupal at around 1 pm  on June 13 for his alleged role in facilitating smuggling of arms which were seized a day earlier.
Asem Kanan works in Manipur Police Department as a Head Constable and is currently posted in Imphal East Reserve Line, said our correspondent. Kanan is now in police custody for further investigation, said a reliable source.
