IMPHAL, Jun 1 : Finally recovered from COVID-19 but that was not the end of despair for a young lady from Skip village in Kamjong district, as she had to return to her home place in an auto as the ambulance from JNIMS refused to cross district and drop her back at Kamjong district.
This happened yesterday.
The young lady has also been advised to undergo another 14 days home quarantine.
The young lady in question here was the first person from Kamjong district to test positive for coronavirus on May 15, after she returned from Kolkata along with others by bus. She was amongst the many nurses who recently returned from Kolkata.
On being contacted yesterday, JNIMS authority said that an ambulance was indeed provided to take the recovered patient back home.
However family friends at Imphal said that the ambulance only dropped her at Dewlahlane and refused to go to her village at Kamjong district on the explanation that the ambulance was not authorised to cross districts !
No taxi was ready too to take her back home, as she had just recovered from the highly contagious virus.  Fortunately for the young lady a lady auto driver volunteered to take her back home at about 5 pm yesterday.  The journey from Imphal to Kamjong district headquarters takes around five hours.
