IMPHAL, Jun 28: The Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) has clarified to the query raised by Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) that there are 150 dedicated COVID beds with bed occupancy of 140 to 150 per day.
"All the daily wastes generated from COVID wards like PPE, caps, face cover, shoe cover, gloves, face masks, etc are treated with sodium hypochlorite solution and then collected in double layered polythene bags and then burnt in the Incinerator Plant," said Dr Rajen Singh in a statement on plain paper.
While clarifying that the Incinerator Plant at the hospital is functioning well, he also said two ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant) with capacity of 50 KLD and 10 KLD have already been processed for construction after getting approval from JNIMS Authority.
At present, all liquid Bio Medical Wastes are treated with Sodium Hypochlorite solution and disposed, he added.
