IMPHAL, Jun 27: The COVID-19 State Consultative Committee held a meeting today on whether the ongoing lockdown should be continued or further relaxed or tightened but the meeting could not adopt any concrete decision.
A group of the consultative committee’s members was in favour of continuing the lockdown in the present form while another group came up with a suggestion of tightening the lockdown.
As such, the meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Biren could not arrive at any concrete decision, sources informed.
Nonetheless, all the officials attended the meeting expressed satisfaction that the capacity to test samples has increased appreciably.
The meeting also discussed about forming a committee which would facilitate hospitalisation and treatment of health workers if they test positive for the contagion.
Health officials who attended the meeting said that plans are afoot to open 11 new COVID Care Centres.
