IMPHAL, Jun 28: There is a plan to establish a wetland institution at Yaralpat to study, preserve and protect the wetlands ecosystem, said Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Deputy Director Dr T Brajakumar.
Speaking one the sideline of a tree plantation programme held as part of World Environment Day observance at Yaralpat, he said the State Wetland Authority is taking up efforts to preserve and return the historic Yaralpat to its original state.
Appealing all to plant trees and protect the environment, he said people should extend maximum cooperation in saving the wetlands of the State.
The Yaralpat Integrated Farming Cooperative Society organised the tree plantation programme. Its secretary T Janaki also took part in the programme and urged people to preserve nature and environment.
