IMPHAL, Jul 31: A single bench of the High Court of Manipur has fixed August 3 and August 4 for further hearing of election petitions filed  against Thounaojam Shyamkumar and Kh Joykisan respectively.
Dr Nimaichand Luwang had filed the petition against Th Shyamkumar while Jyotin Waikhom filed the petition against Kh Joykisan.
Justice Lanusungkum Jamir was hearing the petitions through video conference today.
It may be noted that the Supreme Court had recently directed the High Court of Manipur to dispose both the election petitions within two months.
Former Minister and BJP spokesperson, Dr Nimaichand Luwang had filed the petition alleging that Th Shyamkumar had filed a "false" affidavit by "not disclosing a pending appeal against him in the Delhi High Court during the 2017 State general elections".
On the other hand, the petition against Kh Joykisan was filed in April 2017, a few months after the formation of the BJP led coalition Government.
Thangmeiband AC BJP candidate Jyotin Waikhom had filed the petition alleging that Kh Joykisan had  violated the provision of The Representation of the People Act, 1951 while submitting the nomination paper and other relevant documents for contesting the 2017 State general elections.
