IMPHAL, Aug 16: Demanding to uphold the territorial integrity of Manipur, volunteers of the Ningol Club Heirok staged a protest demonstration at the Devimandop in Heirok Part II on August 15.
Ningol Club secretary information & publicity Sushma Ningthoujam, in a statement said they welcomed the announcement by the Prime Minister Office that the peace talk between the India Government and NSCN-IM which has been continuing for the last 23 years will have a final solution in September.
However the solution should not disturb the integrity of Manipur in any way. Manipur being a land inhabited by many communities, India Government should be mindful not to affect the interest of other communities while trying to fulfil the demands of a single community, she said.
Protesters holding placards that read ‘Do not disturb the territorial integrity of Manipur’, ‘Solution for one communty should not affect other communities,’ ‘Stop divisive policy’, ‘Article 371 (A) should not be implemented in Manipur,’ etc were seen during the demonstration.
The protesters also demanded the MPs, MLAs and Ministers to declare their stand to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur.
