IMPHAL, Aug 17
Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) has stated that conferring the Chief Minister's Police Medal for Gallantry for 2020 to police personnel who was involved in drugs smuggling case is very unfortunate for the people of Manipur.
A press release issued by Khundongbam Anand, secretary information & publicity CADA, said that such behaviour will demoralise honest law enforcers, apart from ridiculing "War on Drugs" campaign.
Conferring such revered award to drugs smuggler might be a result of some collusion works, he said and urged the State Government and department concerned to initiate a transparent enquiry and terminate all police personnel involved in the wrongdoing. Anand also asked the Government if Manipur has indeed become a safe haven for rich people.
Establishing Fast Track Court also failed to check drug issues that are mushrooming in the State, he said adding that such cases arise because the Government and department concerned are not honest in their works.
He then urged the State Government to do the needful to win people's trust at the earliest.
