IMPHAL, Aug 19: A day after a no confidence motion was moved against the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Autonomous District Council (ADC) Churachandpur, the  High Court has directed authorities concerned not to take any action on the basis of the results of the votes till next hearing.
Justice Ahanthem Bimol Singh was hearing a writ petition filed by T Paukhanlian against the State of Manipur and 17 others today.
It may be noted that the no confidence motion was taken up yesterday at the Council's hall. However, the results were not declared as the ballot was reportedly taken to Imphal.
Reliable sources said that 14 Members who wanted to remove the incumbent Chairman and Vice Chairman took part in the voting while at least 7 Members including the Chairman were absent.
Meanwhile, after hearing the submissions of the petitioner and the respondents, the Court also ordered that the Chairman and the Vice Chairman shall not execute any financial transaction except the salaries of the staff of the ADC Churachandpur and day-to-day expenditure of the Council.
