IMPHAL, Aug 1: The Coalition for Indigenes’ Rights Campaign (CIRCA) Manipur has said that they would observe the ‘74th Manipur Independence Day’ on August 14 by raising the flag ‘Malem Puba Pafal.’
CIRCA, in a statement, said they have been observing the day every year since 2015 with the Royal Council Sana Konung at the royal palace
However, observation of the Manipur 'Independence Day' at the royal palace would be stopped from this year onwards as the king has chosen to become a Member of the Rajya Sabha by ignoring the appeals to stay as the customary head of the hill and valley people, CIRCA said.
For this year, the day will be observed in a simple manner due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it added.
CIRCA has also appealed to the people to observe the day at every locality.
