Babina Diagnostic Centre now has free HCV RNA PCR test facility

Babina Diagnostic Centre Porompat now has free HCV RNA PCR test to diagnose Hepatitis C.
The free diagnostic service was initiated from August 21 after it signed an MoU with National Health  Mission on August 20.
As Babina Diagnostics have the HCV RNA PCR testing facility, it would provide relief to people who wanted to test for the HCV, said State Nodal Officer of National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme Dr RK Roji.
"Initially, RIMS and JNIMS were designated as model treatment centres for Hepatitis after the launch of the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme. Both the hospitals have testing facilities but due to COVID-19 pandemic, RIMS and JNIMS have not been able to conduct the HCV RNA PCR test as the viral load testing machines are being used for diagnosing COVID-19. As Babina now has the facility, it will provide ease and relief to those needing the test," she said.
Seven district hospitals-Churachandpur, Chandel, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Tamenglong, Senapati and Ukhrul are also treatment centres for Hepatitis, she added.
