Recovery surpasses fresh

IMPHAL, Aug 23: After a long gap, recovery rate from COVID-19 surpassed fresh infections in the State during the last 24 hours.
With 3616 COVID-19 patients discharged so far after they were found free from the virus, the recovery rate stands at 68.92 per cent.
A press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 114 persons including 47 CAPF personnel were tested positive for the virus during the last 24 hours.
On the other hand, 161    people who have been undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at CAPF (88), RIMS (4), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (32), CCC Meitram (2), CCC Thoubal (18), CCC Phung-yar (1), CCC Senapati (1), JNIMS (6) and RD Wing (9) have been discharged during the last 24 hours as they were found COVID-19 free.
Out of 1,31,709 samples tested so far at different laboratories, 5246 samples have been found positive for COVID-19  while the cumulative figure of discharged cases is 3616 (general public 3011, Central security personnel 605).
As on Sunday, there were 1608 active cases of COVID19 in the State (general public 833, Central security personnel 775).
Of the 67 civilians who have been tested positive for the contagion during the last 24 hours, 35 belong to Imphal West, 17 to Imphal East, five to Bishnupur, six to Thoubal, one each to Chandel, Kakching and Noney.
They were tested positive at RIMS, JNIMS, Raj Medicity, Babina Diagnostic Centre, Imphal West RAT, Bishnupur RAT, Imphal RAT, Ukhrul and Thoubal.
A late report informed that as many as 49 persons have been found COVID-19 positive out of 632 samples tested today at JNIMS.
In addition, 26 personnel of Assam Rifles posted at Tamenglong district and three persons from Thoubal have also tested positive for the virus at RIMS.
Meanwhile spiking the number of cases in Imphal West, 10 more persons have tested positive for COVID-19, said sources.
