IMPHAL, Aug 25: The Khurmi Naga People's Organisation (KNPO) has urged the State Government to install TrueNat machines at District Hospital Chandel and other Community Health Centres.
KNPO in a release said even though two representatives from the Manipur Health Services were deputed to Chandel to discuss with the district administration, no concrete action has been taken up by the State Government till date.
“We appeal to the State Government to procure TrueNat machines for the district hospital as well as the Community Health Centres as the Central Govern- ment has released a good amount of fund to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“According to a report available with the district administration and the CMO office, there are already active cases with no travel history in the district. Hence, in order to prevent and contain further spread, the public should be provided with the facility to test for COVID-19 at the nearby district hospital and Community Health Centres.”
KNPO said the facilities provided by the State Government in the outlying districts are marginal and of sub-standard quality.
“Ultrasound machine, X Ray machine and  other laboratory facilities are of sub-standard quality. It is also learnt that the concerned district office has put up proposals for purchase quality medical equipment and on-service training of staff, but the State Government is not serious enough to take up prompt actions,” it decried.
“Such irresponsibility and discriminative attitude of the State Government shall not be tolerated in future,” said KNPO while urging the State Government to address the grie- vances with humanitarian zeal.
Further, KNPO lauded the Central Government for the sanctioning a project of widening the two-lane Pallel-Chandel road (Christian Section) through the NHIDCL.
“Despite the many hardships and inconveniences faced by the public of Chan-del for such long years, we are happy to learn that the NIHDCL has issued Letter of Acceptance to the M/S Krishna Construction Company, some months back.”
The people at large have been anticipating that the company shall execute the work with due emphasis on the qualitative aspect, it said.
The KNPO appealed to the public and the villages along the Pallel-Chandel Christian Section to cordially extend cooperation to the road widening works.
KNPO also appealed to the public and the concerned village authorities inhabiting along Pallel-Chandel Christian Section to approach the concerned land acquisition authority of the district or DC office on any matter relating to land compensation and not to cause hurdles to the implementing agency.
