Hunger Marchers' Day observed

MOREH, Aug 27: The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) Tengnoupal District Committee today organised the 55th Hunger Marchers' Day programme which was observed at the Ima Kondong Lairembi Haraobung, Moreh.
The guests paid floral tribute to photoghraphs of the martyrs.
The programme was attended by members of MCM, ACODOM, Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup, Nupi Khunai Chokhat Lamjing Lup, AMSU head office along with AMSU Tengnoupal District Committee members.
Speaking on the occasion, AMSU organisation secy Moirangthem Pravin said that Hunger Marchers' Day is observed annually by AMSU and other bodies to remember the martyrs of the 1965 movement to protest artificial famine.

AMSU District Committee Jiribam also observed the 55th Hunger Marchers' Day in a simple function at its office and paid floral tribute to the martyrs.
A two minutes silence was also observed by all those present as a mark of respect to the departed.
General secy of AMSU District Committee Jiribam, U Poresh Meitei expressed that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the day was observed in a simple programme with only a few limited guests.
The function was attended by CSOs and student bodies.
