India adds 77,000 new cases

India has once again recorded a massive spike in new coronavirus cases. While a day earlier the country saw over 75,000 new coronavirus cases, over the past 24 hours, India saw an even bigger spike of 77,266 new Covid-19 cases. The total coronavirus cases in India now stand at 33,87,500.
The death toll has also gone up by 1,057 and reached 61,529.
With nearly 34 lakh coronavirus cases, the total number of active cases now stand at 7,42,023 while the number of recovered cases have gone up to 25,83,948.
Delhi has recorded 1,840 fresh coronavirus cases on Thursday, the city's highest single-day spike this month till date, taking the tally beyond 1.67 lakh, while the death toll from the disease mounted to 4,369.
Telangana, which has one of the highest number of cases in the country, has recorded the biggest spike of 2,932 positive cases and 11 fatalities in the past 24 hours. Total cases in Telangana now stand at 1,17,415 while the death toll is at 799. Active cases have reached 28, 942.
Meanwhile, India is now headed towards Unlock 4 from September 1 in which the Government is likely to bring more relaxations and open up Metro train services, restaurants and bars that are shut since March when the lockdown was first imposed. Govt of India has said so far over 12 lakh Indians have returned from abroad under the Vande Bharat repatriation mission during the coronavirus pandemic. India Today
