5th Commemoration of FA held

TAMENGLONG, Aug 3: The 5th Commemoration of the signing of Framework Agreement organised by the 4 tribes council of Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme, was held in Tamenglong today.
Speaking at the programme, George Golmei, central administrative officer of Zeilad region, NSCN (IM) stated that the Indo-Naga cease fire was signed between the Government of India and NSCN which came to effect on August 1, 1997.
After 18 years of political dialogue, followed by rounds of formal and informal talks, a Framework Agreement (FA) was signed between Government of India and NSCN on August 3, 2015, finally paving way for future relationships, he said.
He also mentioned that the FA provide for the Nagas and Indians to embark on enduring a new inclusive relationship as two entities.
Golmei continued that as the 5th anniversary of the FA is  being observed, the Indian Government need to revisit and recollect the emotion of that very moment.
Further, he appealed fellow Nagas to stay firm on the FA, no matter how many people may ambiguously interpret it.
