Nagaland tallies 2129

DIMAPUR, Aug 3: Nagaland reported the highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases on Monday with the detection of 194 fresh cases, reports NNN.
This has taken the State’s COVID-19 tally past the 2000-mark. Nagaland has, till date, reported 2129 cases of COVID-19.
According to Health Minister Pangnyu Phom, 194 cases of COVID-19 were reported on Monday from the 845 samples tested. Out of these fresh cases, 136 are from Dimapur, 36 from Zunheboto and 22 from Kohima.
Meanwhile, total lockdown in Dimapur has been partially lifted on Monday. With this partial lifting of the total lockdown, people were seen rushing to the colony shops to fetch their rations.
All shops in the main markets in Dimapur are to remain closed even during partial lifting of the total lockdown. Shops selling essential commodities are allowed to open in localities from 9 am to 2 pm. However, chemist shops are to function as usual, according to the new guidelines.
It can be mentioned that Dimapur had a total lockdown for a week.
It can also be noted here that the total lockdown extension for another week in Kohima began on August 1. The previous one week total lockdown in the State capital expired on July 31.
According to the administration, the extension of the total lockdown in Kohima had become necessary as more and more COVID-19 cases are being reported from outside the quarantine centres.
