High Court directs

IMPHAL, Aug 7: A division bench of High Court of Manipur has directed the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly to submit written argument/counter affidavit on or before August 17 pertaining to the different writ petitions filed by disqualified Congress MLAs.
The division bench comprising Justice Lanusungkum Jamir and Justice A Bimol was hearing writ petitions filed by ex-MLAs, Yengkhom Surchandra, Kshetrimayum Biren and Sanasam Bira against the Speaker and two others.
On the other hand, the Speaker submitted counter affidavits in connection with the three different cases filed by three Congress MLAs before the same bench today.
During the hearing today through video conference, counsels of the petitioners prayed for submitting rejoinders to the  counter affidavits.
The Court fixed August 19 for further hearing of the cases.
It may be noted that Congress MLA K Ranjit, K Meghachandra and MLA O Surjakumar had filed three different writ petitions against the Speaker and MLAs, O Lukhoi, Ngamthang Haokip and Ginsuanhau.
