IMPHAL, Aug 8:  Project Director of Manipur Organic Mission Agency  (MOMA) K Devdutta Sharma has stated that fresh fruits and vegetables grown at Khoijuman, Kwasiphai and Toubul under Bishnupur district are now available at an organic outlet at Sanjenthong.
Speaking to media persons, K Devdutta said that they have been discussing with the farmers, local clubs and meira paibis  to sort out ways for selling the fruits and vegetables grown in the three villages. Saying that the three villages are major producers of fruits and vegetables in the State, the Project Director added that farmers, however, are hit hard by the lockdown this year due to limited market access.
To mitigate the sufferings of the farmers, MOMA , on the advice of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, started procuring their produces by collaborating with different agencies, he said, adding that Phou-oibee Farmers' Producer Company will help farmers from Toubul in marketing their products from tomorrow (August 9).
K Devdutta also assured that more initiatives will be taken up to prevent agricultural products grown in other areas from perishing.
It may be mentioned that black diamond or fox nut (locally known as Thanging) and vegetables grown in Mayang Imphal and its surrounding areas were sold at the same outlet on Thursday.
