THOUBAL, Sep 13 : The Lions Club, Thoubal in collaboration with Wangkhem Youth Club, Wangkhem carried out its first social service of the year by conducting a cleaning drive around the area of Wangkhem and a tree plantation service today
Mutum Nabachandra, president of Lions Club, Thoubal stated that their service today was executed in accordance with the initiative taken up by Lions Club International to reduce the effects of global warming and changes in the environment.
He thanked the Horticulture Dept and the Forest Dept, Thoubal for helping them with the tree plantation.
Lions Club of Imphal City conducted tree plantation programme on September 12 at Yaibilen Children home, Keibi Sanapat, Imphal East under one District one activity programme.
The programme was conducted under the theme " Each One Plant One" in honour of teachers fraternity.
Altogether 20 members of Lions Club Imphal City planted saplings at the children home complex. They also distributed food items, hand sanitizers and face masks for inmates an staff of the home.
Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights also organised 3rd tree plantation programme at Destitute Children Home for Boys, Chandel today.
The saplings were planted as part of its month-long tree plantation drive at CCIs (Child Care Institutions). Chairperson of the Commission, Sumatibala Ningthoujam and its members took part in the drive, said a statement of the Commission.
