AR unearths contraband
IMPHAL, Sep 15
Based on intelligence inputs, troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation to intercept a consignment of contraband smuggled across the border from Myanmar, today.
While carrying out search operations in the area between New Songyang and P Chehyang, around mid day, the troops located some concealed items in the undergrowth.
On closer examination, Assam Rifles Chandel Battalion unearthed contraband items worth more than Rs 3 lakhs.
The contraband consignment uncovered comprised of Myanmarese 'Godzilla' anti-mosquito coils, 700 kgs betel nuts and Myanmarese 'Diablo' beer cans.
The recovered items have been handed over to Police Station Molcham.
