IMPHAL, Sep 2: The Tangkhul Naga Foothills' Organisation (TNFO) has raised questions over the alleged non-distribution of food grains under NFSA for July 2020 and 'unlawful' deduction of 30 percent of food grains from the allotted allocations meant for the beneficiaries under Kangpokpi district.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Manipur, TNFO said that beneficiaries of 27 Tangkhul villages under TNFO Kangpokpi were deprived of  "Rights to Food" for July 2020 by the department concerned without giving any reason.
The villagers in question are Irong Kongleiram, Iraong Tangkhul, Komlaching, Keihao, Tangkhul Khullen, Heinganglok, Sada Khumpi, Mapao Thangal, Mapao Khullen, Hongmahn, Mapao Zingtun, Ngarumphung, Sada Lungthar, Silent, Happyland, South Loushing, Tongrei, Laikoiching, Soplang, New Salem, Island Ato, Resophung, Island Aze, Leishiphung, Thangchingpokpi, Soraland and Somrei.
Furthermore, the department concerned also deducted 30 percent of the total allocation of food grains under NFSA/PMGKAY, TNFO said that the department is liable to answer to the public.
Claiming that rationing agents were also provided only temporary slip with no specification of the month at the event of depositing cash thereby giving rooms for rampant manipulation and malpractices in the public distribution system, the organisation stated that rationing agent shall have to provide with original challan specifying the month for the deposited amount.
