CPI observes Irabot's birth anniversary

The 124th birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irabot was held today at Khabi Community Hall.
Prior to the programme which was organised by the Irabot Celebration Committee, Konthoujam Local Council, comrade L Sotinkumar, secretary of CPI - Manipur State Council hoisted party's flag to repair the party office at Khabi, said a statement from CPI, Manipur State Council.
It also stated that the gathering paid floral tribute to the photo of the leader (Hijam Irabot).
On the occasion, L Sotinkumar said that CPI along with the people of Manipur will oppose all threats besieging the State like Jananeta Irabot had done so in his time.
L Sotinkumar also stated that CPI will confront the 'anti-poor' Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A similar programme was also held at Wangoi in the presence of comrade Dr M Nara, member CPI, North East.
At the event, comrade H Ibobi Singh, general secretary Manipur Loumi Lup,  spoke about 'ill-treatment' of the farmers' community by the Government, and added that farmers from across the State will protest on September 25.
While, Dr M Nara said that Manipur existing as a State today can be credited to Hijam Irabot, for he protested against the formation of Purbanchal Pradesh.
Laishram Inakhunbi Devi, Ward Councillor and comrade Y Ibomcha Singh as presidium members.
