IMPHAL, Sep 23: Following media reports about possible removal of two NPP Ministers from the Council of Ministers as and when a reshuffle is effected, the four NPP Ministers held a meeting today and resolved to leave the BJP-led coalition en-masse if any of them is removed from the Council of Ministers.
Significantly, NPP left the BJP-coalition sometime back and joined hands with the Opposition to float Secular Progressive Front (SPF).
They renewed their support to the coalition Government only after they met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and some other BJP Central leaders together with NPP president Conrad Sangma and BJP National general secretary Ram Madhav.
The NPP Ministers’ decision to walk out of the BJP-led coalition in case any one of them is removed from the Council of Ministers is closely related with the understanding they reached with BJP Central leaders before they agreed to renew their support to the coalition Government, sources informed.
The four NPP MLAs who are in the Council of Ministers are Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar, Health Minister L Jayanta-kumar, YAS Minister Letpao Haokip and Tribal Affairs Minister N Kayisii.
It was widely speculated that Letpao and Jayanta may be dropped.
