Sit-in staged against arrest of Dr Robindro

IMPHAL, Sep 23 : A sit-in was staged at Andro protesting the arrest of Dr Robindro who voiced against the Governments' decision to hand over the management of the Santhei Natural Park, Andro to private firms by adopting PPP (Public-Private Partnership) Model, in support of the locals.
The sit-in was participated by ASHAs of Andro PHC, members of youth clubs and Meira Paibi bodies Andro who also condemned the arrest of Dr Robindro by police and his transfer.
The protesters during the sit-in also demanded the immediate release of Dr Robindro and to withdraw the his transfer from the PHC Andro without fail.
It may noted that the locals have been staging a series of protest since September 15 following a tender notice issued by Tourism Corporation of India on September 7 inviting private firms for operation and maintenance of the park which has been developed and ran by the locals.
