Two more die, 77 test positive to take tally to 9376

IMPHAL, Sep 23: The State’s COVID-19 death toll has reached 62 following the death of two more persons at Shija Hospital during the last 24 hours.
The latest victims included a five-year old boy from Kangpokpi and a 53-year old man from Imphal West. Apart from being infected by COVID-19, they were also suffering from co-morbid health conditions.
The boy was admitted to the hospital on September 21 while the man from Imphal West was brought to the hospital yesterday.
On the other hand, 96 samples were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at RIMS, Christian Hospital, Swiss Clinic, Raj Medicity, Thoubal, Chandel, Babina Diagnostics, Jiribam, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Kakching, Advance Hospital, Senapati and Shija Hospital.
They include 19 personnel of CAPF and 77 civilians who are residents of Imphal West (24), Imphal East (19), Kakching (10), Senapati (1), Thoubal (12), Bishnupur (1), Kangpokpi (1), Churachandpur (4), Tamenglong (1), Chandel (1) and Jiribam (3).  
Out of the 77 civilians who have been tested positive, 67 have no significant history of travelling outside the State.
In the meantime, 221 persons have been discharged during the last 24 hours from RIMS (5), CCC UNACCO (98), CCC Thoubal (51), TK Ukhrul (3), CCC JNV Chandel (4), CCC Lamding-Thoubal (25), CCC Kangpokpi (3) and CAPF (32) after they were found COVID-19 free.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 9376 (general population 7343, Central security personnel 2033).
It includes 2206 active cases (general population 1873, Central security personnel 333) and 7108 discharged cases (general population 5411, Central security personnel 1697).
The recovery rate as on Wednesday is 75.81 per cent.
