MOREH, Sep 25: Members of Moreh ICP Bypass Road Structure Committee blocked ICP bypass road, today, denouncing the order issued by Tengnoupal Deputy Commissioner on September 11 last.
The order directs removal of structures close to Moreh ICP bypass road on or before September 25.
Placards that read "We love our house," "No compensation no eviction," "We condemned DC order," "No entry without negotiation," "We demand a survey record of NHIDCL & ADB 2018 etc. by the protesters.
Slogans which demanded compensation, furnishing of 2018 survey and rescinding of the order dated September 11 were also shouted.
Speaking to media persons, Moreh ICP Bypass Road Structure Committee chairman, Holpao Baite stated that asking the landowners to dismantle their homes without providing compensation is condemnable.
The strike will be dropped if an understanding is reached with the DC, however, the landowners will not shy away from giving up their lives if 'brute force' is used to complete the task, he added.
Saying that the committee also doesn't want to put such restrictions on the road, considering the inconvenience it created, the chairman asked all concerned to come to an understanding at the earliest.
On the other hand, BJP ST Morcha Manipur Pradesh Vice president J Khongsai met the protestors and assured to convey their demands to all concerned.
