New butterfly species recorded

IMPHAL, Sep 29 : Members of Wildlife Explorers Manipur Harmenn Huidrom, Elangbam Premjit and Jatishwar Singh, faculty of Science at University of South Bohemia, Czech Republic have together recorded a new species of Butterfly in Manipur.
The discovery of the new butterfly species in the State and its details came out in yesterday's edition of "Bionotes" published by the Entomological Society of India, New Delhi and Butterfly Research Centre, Bhimtal. It is said that the name of the species (in English) has been identified as 'Indian Orange Albatross'.
The photo of the butterfly species which is widely detected in Sikkim and other South East Asian countries including Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, southern part of China and Singapore, was captured by Harmenn Huidrom and Elangbam Premjit around a stream near Irengbam village.
It is also said that the wildlife enthusiasts earlier came across the same orange coloured graceful butterfly species at 'Lamshilu Lok' of Kwatha Khunou under Tengnoupal district.
