Cashless ATMs make mockery of Covid SOPs Hundreds crowd SBI, MG Avenue

IMPHAL, Sep 3: The SBI ATM booth at MG Avenue was today seen crowded with people who came from various places due to unavailability of cash at other ATM booths in Imphal.
Even though people were seen wearing masks, social distancing was not maintained at all. As they were so desperate to get cash from the ATM they all threw caution to the wind.
Speaking to some people in the queue, they said that they had taken a tour of Imphal City looking for cash at ATM booths before coming there.
Not only SBI but all the banks in Imphal had no cash, one of the customers said.
Another customer said he has been waiting in line for more than an hour now. He also said he had visited most of the ATMs in Imphal before coming there.
“As we need cash we have no choice but to wait in line, crowded or not. If the other ATMs had cash there wouldn't be a crowd here like this,” said another customer who was also waiting in line.     Like other places, all the ATMs at Thangmeiband including the one near ABC godown, the ones behind the gate of DM College and the ones at Lamphel side had no cash.
