Book released

Imphal, Jan 24: MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze released a book titled 'Flame on a hill: A collection of stories' written by Shelmi Sankhil in an online programme today.
The book release programme was jointly organised by Naga Scholars' Association (NSA) and Bibliophile South Asia, said a statement issued by NSA.
Shelmi Sankhil said that the stories in the book can be clubbed into three categories with overlaps viz historical fiction, memoir and short story and added that even though the main focus is on Lamkang tribe, all the stories can be taken as representing the people of Chandel as a whole as the tribes of this region have a shared cultural heritage and overlapping territories, added the statement. The event was moderated by Senganglu Thaimei, Asst Professor of English, Miranda House and had speeches from Dr Pfoze and Ashok Butani, the publisher, added the statement.
Dr Zuchamo Yanthan, president of NSA emphasised on the importance of the book for understanding one of the least understood Naga communities in Manipur and said the book will help in introducing the historical experiences of the Lamkang people and Chandel Naga as a whole, added the statement. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from the rapporteur Dr  KK Loung Nathan.
