IMPHAL, Oct 10 : The 223rd death anniversary of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra was observed at Dwarka in Gujarat.
The two day commemoration programme was organised by Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation, Manipur from October 9 to October 10 and was attended by B Amusana Sharma, advisor of the foundation; G Ranjit Sharma, chairman of organising committee; M Ashok, general secretary; Th Dhanakumar, secretary; T Irabot, treasurer and RK Radhamohon, secretary, Vishwa Hindu Parishad Manipur.
As a part of the programme on the first day, a procession was carried out by the participants carrying portrait of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra upto the bank of river Gomti followed by a floral tribute to the portrait of the Rajarshi Bhagyanchandra at Swaminarayan temple at Dwarka. Traditional and cultural dances marked the second day with various dance troupes of the State performing Nata Sankritana and Ras Leela on the bank of river Gomti.
K Brajamani Sharma said the observation of the death anniversary of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra is organised every year by the foundation to increase the reach of Ras Leela and Nata Sankirtana started by Rajarshi Bhagyachandra which have also been recognised by UNESCO. Cultural exchange programmes have always been part of the death anniversary observation, he added.
